Within walking distance of Cortona’s historic center, you’ll find this wonderful 500-year-old Tuscan stone villa, perched on a hill with breathtaking views over the Pergo Valley and the rolling Tuscan countryside. The walk is about 2.4 km and quite hilly, so it requires a bit of effort – but taxis are available in Cortona if you prefer an easier return to the villa.
Outdoor area
Villa Valerie is surrounded by about 150 olive trees as well as cherry and apricot trees, and there are several peaceful spots in the garden where you can relax and enjoy the true Tuscan atmosphere.
The garden also features a private swimming pool (8 x 4 m) with a sun terrace and loungers for 8 people – the perfect place to unwind and take in the stunning valley view. For those who prefer shade, there are several cozy covered terraces with seating, and in the garden, there’s also a small area where children can play ball.
The villa also offers an outdoor dining area under a pergola with a barbecue and traditional pizza oven – ideal for those long summer evenings filled with Italian flavors and atmosphere. Parking for 2–3 cars is available on the property.
The access road to Villa Valerie is narrow and winding, but the drive up is well worth it, as a sense of calm and the beautiful view await at the top.
Interior of the villa
Villa Valerie has a unique charm and a dreamlike atmosphere, created with great care for both style and authenticity. The property consists of a main house and a smaller guesthouse. In 2025, the villa underwent a complete renovation, receiving both new furnishings and thoughtful updates throughout.
It is a home where every detail has been considered – from the color palette on the walls to the choice of furniture in each room.
In the main house, you’ll find a welcoming living room with a fireplace, TV, and internet connection, as well as a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, cappuccino machine, dishwasher, freezer, washing machine, and dryer. On the ground floor, there is also a guest toilet. On the first floor, there are three charming bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and views over the green valley.
The guesthouse, located near the pool area, includes a double bed, bathroom and a kitchenette.
Experiences in the area
Villa Valerie enjoys an ideal location in the heart of Tuscany, just a few minutes from the beautiful medieval town of Cortona. Here you can explore small shops, art galleries, and local trattorias, or enjoy a glass of wine on one of the cozy squares overlooking the valley.
Daily shopping is easy in Camucia, only a few kilometers away, where you’ll find supermarkets, cafés, and a weekly market. For a larger shopping experience, Valdichiana Outlet Village is just a 20-minute drive from the villa.
The surrounding area offers endless opportunities for excursions: take a day trip to the wine town of Montepulciano, stroll through the beautiful Renaissance streets of Pienza, or head north to Arezzo, known for its antique markets, restaurants, and vibrant cultural life.
If you prefer nature and relaxation, Lake Trasimeno is just 15 km away, where you can swim, sail, or enjoy a leisurely lunch by the lakeside. A slightly longer drive will take you to Perugia, Assisi, or Siena – each offering its own glimpse into the rich history and local life of Tuscany and Umbria.
