L'Incanto (meaning enchanting) is the name of this villa, and it fully describes this property: a wonderful and characteristic stone villa situated amidst rich and lush nature in the hills near the medieval village of Montecarlo.
The villa's outdoor area
The villa is situated on a large estate (9 hectares); the garden covers 1 hectare and is laid out on terraces, which are partly fenced. In addition to the rustic villa accommodating 8 guests, the property includes a saltwater swimming pool (12 x 5 metres with a depth of 1.40 metres). The pool area is fenced and for your exclusive use. Outside the villa there is a wonderful pergola with garden furniture, a traditional brick barbecue and a stone oven. A shade sail has also recently been installed by the pool, allowing you to enjoy pleasant shade during the day (shown in the last photos in the gallery).
The lovely enclosed pool area is equipped with four sun loungers and four deckchairs, parasols and pool towels. This area is exclusively for the guests' use. Wi-Fi is also available here, as in the rest of the villa.
The property has an automatic entrance gate, three parking spaces near the villa, a small herb garden, and air conditioning and mosquito screens in all rooms. You will receive a welcome package consisting of one bottle of olive oil, one bottle of red wine and one bottle of white wine, all three produced in the nearby village of Montecarlo.
The layout of the villa
The spacious villa is divided over several floors, and the house is furnished in a well-maintained country style with antique furniture, pastel-coloured walls and exposed wooden beam ceilings. The owners place great emphasis on preserving the original features of the house and have created an authentic atmosphere.
The ground floor consists of a living room with two sofas (one three-seater and one two-seater), an armchair, fireplace, TV and CD player. There is also a traditional brick kitchen with a hob, two electric ovens, a vintage wood-burning stove, microwave, fridge with freezer, dishwasher, toaster, American coffee machine, Nespresso coffee machine and electric kettle. From the dining area there is access to the lovely garden, where there is a large terrace furnished with garden furniture, perfect for enjoying all your meals outdoors.
On the lower ground floor/basement there is a laundry area with a washing machine, iron, cleaning equipment and clothes drying rack, as well as a bathroom with toilet, bidet and washbasin.
On the first floor there are three bedrooms; one bedroom with a king-size four-poster bed, an open fireplace, an armchair and a bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin. A second double bedroom with a king-size bed and a bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub/shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin. As well as a third double bedroom with a double bed (which can be converted into two single beds), an armchair and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin. All three bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and mosquito screens.
Next to the main building there is a smaller annex consisting of a kitchen with hob, fridge/freezer, sink and dining table, and a bedroom with a double bed, table, two chairs and wardrobe, with direct access to the garden. There is also a bathroom with shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin.
Experiences in the area
There are plenty of excursion opportunities near the villa.
The holiday home is situated in the hills outside Montecarlo, where vineyards and olive groves stretch as far as the eye can see, and the beautiful landscape transforms and changes with the seasons. The property is surrounded by a wild boar fence.
The charming medieval village of Montecarlo is situated on the top of a hill and offers a cosy atmosphere with its narrow, picturesque streets, many excellent restaurants, bars and charming wine cellars. It is certainly worth a stroll! Taste the different local specialities; you will not be disappointed! Please note that there is no supermarket in Montecarlo, and you will need to go to Altopascio to shop at PAM or to Capannori to shop at the large Esselunga supermarket (approximately 12 minutes away).
Approximately 15 kilometres from the villa is Pinocchio Park in Collodi, a park based on the Pinocchio character, which is especially popular with younger children. There are also many wine and olive oil producers in the area where you can sample the local products. Twenty kilometres from the villa there is a golf course in Monsummano, or you may wish to visit the thermal springs and the large spa resort in Montecatini Terme, 15 kilometres from your holiday home.
Among the cultural attractions, the city of Lucca (17 km) is an obvious choice, but the other Tuscan art cities, such as Florence (65 km) and Pisa (40 km), are also well worth a visit.
Last but not least, the sea is only 40 km from Montecarlo, making it possible to enjoy a day at the beach and a refreshing swim in the warm Mediterranean Sea.
L'Incanto truly lives up to its name; here you will find almost everything your heart could desire – and more.
