The country house La Sovana is located in Tuscany in Siena province and close to the small cozy medieval town of Sarteano. Giuseppe Olivi and his wife Giovanella, who are the owners of La Sovana since 1992 welcome you with true Tuscan hospitality in the beautiful traditional rural buildings with exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors and typical Tuscan interior.

La Sovana spreads over 22 acres of beautiful land; from the flowering and fragrant lavender bush, rosemary and other herbs to the big cypresses and many bushes and flowers that decorate the whole area. Besidens from having a wine and olive oil production (La Sovana is located in the Chianti DOCG region, where DOCG and IGT wines and top quality of extra-virgin olive oil DOP Terre di Siena are produced), there are plenty of nice, green areas where you can relax and read a good book, have lunch or you can take a hike in the oak forest. La Sovana also has two nice tennis courts, mountain bike rental, a playground for the smaller children and a bar open daily that serves cool drinks and snacks. Of course, here is also a large saltwater pool (15 x 8 meters wide and long and 1.20-2.0 meters deep) with sun loungers and umbrellas and they also have a smaller jacuzzi located with beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside.

The Olivi family, have made this beautiful place their home and have created a friendly family atmosphere which permeates through every aspect of life at La Sovana. Their thoughtful hospitality is especially appreciable in the evening over dinner, where you can taste typical local dishes, expertly prepared by Giovannella, with high quality ingredients and with great care for organic and 0-kilometer products, such as the vegetables from the vegetable garden.

Dinner is almost an event and one of the reasons why guests keep on returning year after year, so they can enjoy Giovanella's personal interpretation of traditional Tuscan recipes using fresh local products grown on the property and in the surrounding area. Specialties include Tuscan soups, Florentine steaks grilled on the grill and homemade pasta and pizza. In summer guests may dine on the covered terrace by the pool, with views of fields and sweet hills, or in cooler weather, indoors in the elegant, candlelit dining room. At the restaurant it is also possible to buy breakfast (extra charge), which Giovanella also prepares for guests.

Saturday: Free aperitivo for all guests and afterwards BBQ night (extra charge) with grilled bistecca fiorentina (beef steak) with truffles

Sunday: Pizza night (extra charge)

Monday: Most often the day when wine tasting (included in the price) is held

La Sovana has - besides 14 B&B rooms - 6 apartments; 3 different sizes and two of each kind. The cozy and charming apartments are located away from the main buildings (where there is restaurant and bar) and is located in the building Granaio. All apartments are well-equipped and have kitchens with large fridges, cooker, dishwasher and coffee maker. They also have private terraces and dining areas outside and it is possible to request a barbecue for the apartment.

The medieval town of Sarteano is about 4 km away, where you will find both supermarkets, pharmacies, post offices, restaurants and bars and also enjoy the weekly market, the Renaissance Palace, the picturesque streets and places of the city and, not least, the refreshing lack of tourism.

La Sovana is very well located for excursions; just 2 km from the Chiusi-Chianciano Terme motorway exit, while the wine towns of Montalcino and Montepulciano are only a short drive away. Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Orvieto and Todi are also within short driving distance, while Florence and Rome are only 1 hour by train from nearby Chiusi.

However, it happens very often that guests spend almost all of their holidays at La Sovana; relaxing in the lovely apartments and on the private terraces, eating in the restaurant, hanging out at the pool, taking advantage of the many activities and, in general, relaxing and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings.
