Welcome in Tuscany, welcome to La Mandriola!
This is how you are being welcomed at La Mandriola country estate, which is beautifully located in the Tuscan countryside. The Barbafieri family, which has owned the site for over 30 years, has transformed this agriculture into an organic farm with approximately 400 hectares of land, where various cereal grains, olive, winegrapes and fruit are cultivated. Furthermore, there are animals such as chickens and sheeps.
The buildings are from the 19th century, they have been lovingly renovated by the Barbafieri family and today offer apartments of various sizes between 35-90 sqm with space for between 2 - 6 people.
The apartment complex is spread over several buildings, among which there are courtyards, green areas and a large communal pool (17 x 6 meters and 1 to 2,50 meters deep). Mandriola also has two independent villas each with its own pool, located in a panoramic position, facing the town of Lajatico and especially towards the Teatro del Silenzio; an open air amphitheatre set amidst the beautiful Tuscan countryside and built into the natural formation of the hilly landscape. One a year an outdoor scene is mounted and the world-renowned Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, who was born and raised in the city of Lajatico, performs an annual concert in July. The rest of the year the theatre is not used, from where the names comes the silent theatre.
All apartments consist of an open space kitchen and living room with double sofa bed and one or two bedrooms. All have their own private outdoor area with garden table and chairs either just outside the apartment or situated close by (mainly for the apartments on the first floor).
The pool area is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and close by is a large lawn where there is lots of space for smaller children to play and tumble around.
During the summer months, La Mandriola has a small bar open daily where you can buy fresh drinks and oil, wine and other self-produced products. An afternoon or evening is also organized, where there are tastings of the place's own organic production. It is also possible to eat a typical Tuscan dinner in La Mandriola's own restaurant, which is open 2-3 nights during the summer period.
The nearest town is Lajatico, which is 4 km away. Here you will find a grocery store, bank, several bars and restaurants. Not least La Mandriola is just 2.5 km from the Teatro del Silenzio, in perfect walking distance if you are holidaying at La Mandriola during the annual concert, or just to sit in your own garden and enjoy the concert.

Deposit: 300 euro (cash - refundable on departure).
Heating: 180 euros (to be ordered locally and payable before departure).
Baby cot: 50 euro per week (must be booked in advance).
Breakfast 16 euro per person pr. day
Aircondition 220 euro in the few apartments that have it.
Late check-in: 70 euro.
There is a tourist tax, which is a small amount to be paid directly at the country house upon arrival. The tourist tax is approx. 1.50 euro per person per accommodation (except children under 14 years) and in max. 5 days. A total of 5 euros per person for the whole week.
