The surroundings of the place and the owners’ warm hospitality

They are part of the very significant winery Pieve de' Pitti, which is located slightly southeast of Pisa. The winery itself is located a short distance from the apartments, and here the owners offer wine tastings and olive oil tastings in the historic wine cellars.

They are also happy to take you out into the vineyards and explain their thoughts and methods behind the wine production.

The owners also arrange Tuscan cooking classes as well as suggestions for unique hiking routes, viewpoints in the area, cycling routes, and places you should visit.

The owners themselves live in the main house, where it is also possible to rent rooms (B&B) in the historic buildings with beautiful and personal furnishings. If you wish, the owners can arrange dinner for you in the main house. It is an experience, as the owner is charismatic, and the food and wine are exquisite.

On one of the terraces, there is a stone oven where you can prepare food and enjoy the atmosphere outdoors in this beautiful spot.

The three apartments share the swimming pool (10 x 5 metres), and around the pool you can enjoy the view from the sun loungers on the wooden terrace. A truly wonderful environment.

The apartments’ interior

The holiday apartments are furnished in a beautiful country style with comfortable furniture, bright interiors, and many beautiful details – for example, exposed stone walls and wooden beam ceilings.

The owners’ daughter is an architect, and she has been allowed to think through all the details, including the interior design.

The restoration of Il Poggetto has been carried out in accordance with bio-architectural principles. This means that there is a wonderful atmosphere in the villa, partly because clay from the winery’s own area and environmentally friendly ochre have been used in the paint.

There is no air conditioning in the building, but there are air coolers that can lower the temperature in the accommodation during the hottest summer months.

Experiences in the area

From Il Poggetto, it takes approximately 1 hour by car to reach the beach near the beautiful medieval town of Castiglioncello and approximately 1 hour to Lucca.

The villa is also located close to Lajatico, where Bocelli holds concerts every summer (7 km).

The nearest shopping facilities are in La Sterza (approximately 3 km).

The prices include:

Gas, water, electricity, wifi connection, final cleaning, linen and towels (also pool towels).

 

Pool season: 

The swimming pool is open from mid May to late September.

 

To be paid locally and directly to the owners:

Deposit: 200 euro (cash - refunded at departure).

Heating upon consumption during winter.

Extra bed: 20 euro per day.

Wine tasting, tuscan lunch or dinner, cocking class is on request.

Washing machine: 5 euro (soap included).

Baby cot and high chair: on request. 

 

Pets are allowed.

 

NB - Tourist tax:

Tourist taxation, which is a small amount, has to be paid locally at arrival. The tourist taxation is expected to be approximately 1 euro per person per night (kids not included) and a maximum of 10 days.
