This charming country estate is a traditional agriturismo, featuring cosy apartments created from buildings that were once used as barns and farm buildings. The owners are passionate hosts who take great pride in making guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive.

Outdoor Areas

The property is reached via a 3 km unpaved road and consists of 10 holiday apartments, beautifully situated in a peaceful corner of Tuscany where relaxation and tranquillity come naturally. Surrounded by rolling hills covered with vineyards and olive groves as far as the eye can see, it is the perfect place to unwind. The inviting swimming pool, complete with sun loungers, quickly becomes the heart of the property—unless, of course, you're out exploring the surrounding countryside.

Guests are welcome to sample the estate's own honey, olive oil, and wines. There is also a small vegetable garden where you may pick fresh seasonal vegetables for dinner (availability naturally depends on the season and harvest).

Below Agriturismo Il Gattero lies a large lake where fishing is possible. The surrounding countryside is also ideal for hiking, running, and cycling.

The Surrounding Area

Il Gattero has exclusive access to a private beach area in Tirrenia, located between Pisa and Livorno. This arrangement is valid until October 2027. The beach is approximately 50 minutes from the property, and guests can reserve their place directly through the owners. You can choose between a gazebo or a beach umbrella, select your preferred position in the first, second, or third row from the sea, and book either a full or half day at the beach. The beach area is maintained by the owners of Il Gattero.

From the estate, you'll enjoy beautiful views across the Volterra countryside and the hills leading towards Lajatico, the birthplace of Andrea Bocelli, located approximately 20 km away. Every July, Andrea Bocelli often performs an open-air concert at the spectacular Teatro del Silenzio—an unforgettable experience if you're visiting the area.

Il Gattero is located 9 km from Peccioli, a charming medieval town with shops and restaurants. The nearest village is Fabbrica, just 3 km away.

The Apartments and the Owner

The estate offers 10 apartments of various sizes as well as one villa accommodating up to nine guests.

Each apartment has access to an outdoor table, chairs, and a parasol located nearby. While every apartment has its own outdoor seating area, these terraces are not completely private.

All apartments are equipped with ceiling or portable fans, and thanks to the thick stone walls, they remain pleasantly cool even during the summer months. Most apartments also feature air conditioning; those without air conditioning are clearly indicated in their individual descriptions below.

The owner, Massimo, lives on the estate and speaks good English. Every Monday during the summer months, he and his family host a communal dinner on the covered terrace, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy an authentic Tuscan menu in wonderful company.

The property also features a spacious communal dining room, ideal for groups and family gatherings. This is also where Massimo hosts wine tastings, allowing guests to discover the flavours of the local region.
