The holiday resort’s history and surroundings

In 1592, Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s ancestors began building the Fattoria del Colle farm and then started cultivating the land in Montalcino and growing wine. For the past three generations, the estate has been passed down from mother to daughter, and the next generation is already ready to take over.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini has been managing two wineries since 1998 – Casato Prime Donne and Fattoria del Colle – and during this time she has changed them radically by combining new technology with traditions. She has created a new type of very high-quality wines that carry her name. The main project is the “Prime Donne Project”, which is the first Brunello wine produced entirely by women. At Fattoria del Colle, Orcia DOC and Chianti DOCG wines are produced. The wines are of extremely high quality and, of course, 100% handmade.

Fattoria del Colle is a traditional and charming small Italian village, built around a beautiful main villa (from 1592). Today, the buildings have been converted into holiday apartments, private villas, rooms, a restaurant, a fitness centre with spa, tennis courts, a cooking school with Danish instructor Helle Tesio, lovely gardens, a beautiful park, and two swimming pools, all set in an untouched landscape of vineyards, olive groves, and cultivated fields. The pool sizes are 5 x 12 metres with a depth of 1.40 metres, and the other is 7.20 x 15.60 metres with a depth of 1.40 metres.

In Italy’s most beautiful landscape, where the scenery tells stories, Fattoria del Colle remains untouched, and guests discover the charm of the accommodations, where every room has a story to tell. The holiday accommodations have naturally been restored with respect for this history.

The holiday accommodations at the resort

We have selected three holiday accommodations at Fattoria del Colle, which we believe best suit our guests: two villas and one apartment; all with private terraces and located secluded from walking paths and common areas. Villa Archi for 14 people with a private pool, Villa Cerentola for 8–10 people, and the apartment Casa Donatella for 6 people.

Restaurant and activities at the holiday resort

Every morning, the day’s activities and events are displayed outside the entrance to the reception, and guests can sign up for the ones they would like to join. Some of them are free, while others require payment.

Among other things, two wine tours are held every day: a historical guided tour and a more wine-focused tour. All our guests have a free wine tasting included in their stay at the estate. On Wednesdays, it is possible to drive yourself to the other winery, Prime Donne, and enjoy a free tasting of the estate’s production.

The newly renovated spa area has a jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath, and the possibility of beauty treatments and massages.

Fattoria del Colle’s restaurant is open to everyone – also guests from outside – and is open from spring until November.

You can sign up for the evening’s menu no later than the same morning that the event takes place.

Fattoria del Colle also has a renowned cooking school, where Danish chef Helle Tesio is connected and teaches. If you are interested in participating in a cooking school during your stay at Fattoria del Colle – and even being taught in Danish – there is a unique opportunity here. (Minimum 6 participants)

The area where you are staying

The nearest small town is Trequanda, which is located approximately 3 km from Fattoria del Colle. From the winery, there is a small marked path where you can walk directly to the town in just 20 minutes. In Trequanda, there are two restaurants, a pizzeria, and a butcher.

In Sinalunga, which is located approximately 12 km from the estate, you will instead find shops, restaurants, supermarkets, a post office, pharmacy, bakery, bars, and almost everything you need.
