The unique Umbrian view doesn’t get better than this

In the heart of Italy, nestled between mountains and the green Umbrian countryside, you'll find Fattoria Aquilone with its 5 holiday apartments, accommodating 2-7 people.

Fattoria Aquilone is part of an old fortress, which today has been transformed into cozy and authentic holiday apartments, welcoming the whole family.

Here, you’ll escape the hectic pace of life, returning to a place where daydreaming is not only allowed but encouraged. This is one of the key elements that the owners at Fattoria Aquilone embrace. It’s a space where daydreaming is an essential part of your experience.

The surroundings invite you to relax on sunbeds, swim in the pool, and enjoy the sun, the mountains, the trees, and the atmosphere, all right here in the middle of Umbria. From the pool (16.5 x 5.5 meters), you can float or race each other, and when you take a break from the water to soak up the sun, I recommend you put on a pair of sunglasses and take in the landscape before you, because this is exactly what Umbria has to offer.

The rooftop garden, in addition to the pool, is filled with scents from the owners' many flowers, shrubs, and century-old trees. It’s a historical haven, where daydreaming also leads you to imagine the stories that the trees and buildings could tell.

The owners have created shaded nooks in the rooftop garden, where you can settle down with a book, an aperitif, or perhaps a family board game, all while enjoying the atmosphere and the incredible view.

Fattoria Aquilone is an organic place where nature is cherished, and harmony with it is a priority. This is one of the reasons they created their synergistic vegetable garden. The garden was established in 2021, and while what the owners do seems simple, it’s deeply thoughtful. They use the natural dynamics of the soil, planting varieties that don’t all require the same conditions, creating synergy in the resources the plants need. The owners use natural mulches, made from dried leaves, straw, etc., ensuring that the soil has the proper nutrients. It’s an ecosystem in the heart of green Umbria, created by the owners with care for each other and the nature they love.

The owners are happy to give tours of the garden, where you can also taste the different varieties. You also have the opportunity to dive into the garden and use herbs for your own cooking in the apartment.

If you’re looking for an extraordinary experience with the owners, they also offer cooking classes. Maybe some of you have already attended a cooking class in Tuscany? Now you can also experience the Umbrian kitchen, which is a blend of Roman and Etruscan influences, offering a healthy cuisine rich in flavor.

Taste Umbria and Fattoria Aquilone’s own products in a tasting, where the owners use their ingredients in simple and straightforward recipes. The tasting includes the owners’ own extra virgin olive oil, legumes, grains, and local wines.

The owners make space for daydreaming at this resort, and they’re happy to help organize a picnic. Where better to daydream than by walking in nature with a basket under your arm and your family by your side? The owners can help create a picnic inspired by Umbria or a vegetarian one.

The holiday apartments are all decorated in a simple style, reminiscent of Tuscany. Common features include the incredibly beautiful stone floors, which many of us associate with Italy, and the stunning beams on the ceilings. Additionally, all apartments are equipped with their own kitchen, so you can shop at local markets or supermarkets and cook at home.

All apartments have an outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy your meals.

The Nature Park Aquilone is a place where you can experience rich wildlife, stand in one of the towers and wait for animals to pass by, or take binoculars and spot them from a distance among the trees. In addition to spotting animals, you can explore the scents of nature, where you can find sage, thyme, and juniper, just to name a few. Umbria is known as Italy’s green heart, and this is especially evident in the park, where you can hike, bike, and discover a lot.

If you visit the Fersione River, you can walk along it and spot unique flowers, including orchids, one of Denmark’s favorites.

If you want to stay active during your vacation but not necessarily in the nature park, the owners offer 4 different routes for trekking and mountain biking (available for rent, just ask before arrival, as they may be rented by others). The owners will provide you with a map, and there are signs throughout the countryside to help you navigate.

Umbria remains a hidden gem for authentic experiences, with plenty of towns to explore without being overwhelmed by tourists. If you want to experience the truly authentic, feel free to ask the owners about a local restaurant with authentic food, as they are in tune with the area and will guide you in the right direction.

Personally, I’m fond of Perugia, and even though it’s the capital of Umbria, it’s nowhere near as crowded as cities like Lucca, Florence, or Pisa in Tuscany. Lake Trasimeno is also an experience you shouldn’t miss when you’re in this area. The lake offers something for everyone: great food with a beautiful view, scenic walks – perhaps with a picnic basket in hand, on the water, on a mountain bike, or just by the beach, as there’s one by the lake too.

There are countless opportunities when you visit the organic resort Fattoria Aquilone in Umbria.
