Lovely family owned country house in the heart of Tuscany

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, just outside Florence, Corte in Poggio is a beautiful country house perched on a small hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The Innocenti family, originally from the nearby village of Stabbia, purchased the property in 1998 and meticulously renovated the buildings with the goal of welcoming guests from around the world to their little corner of Tuscany. This warm, welcoming atmosphere is felt the moment you arrive, where you’re greeted the passionate host, Elisa.

Description of the apartments

Corte in Poggio offers 8 charming apartments, ranging in size to accommodate 2-4 people. Each apartment boasts its own entrance, a private terrace or garden with outdoor furniture, perfect for dining or relaxing in the Tuscan sun. Inside, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with an oven, stove, fridge with a small freezer, kettle, and coffee machine.

All apartments come with a TV and free Wi-Fi. Only 2 apartments have air conditioning, but each apartment is fitted with mosquito nets on the windows, allowing for cool, peaceful nights with a gentle breeze, even during the warm summer months.

Great outdoor space

Below the apartments, the large pool area is set amidst a vineyard, offering the perfect spot for relaxation. The pool (7 x 13.5 meters, 1.50-1.60 meters deep), a jacuzzi, and a small children's pool are all surrounded by nature, with stunning views to complete the experience. Each apartment is provided with two sunbeds and one sun umbrella, ensuring a comfortable day by the pool.

For family entertainment, there’s a children's playground, table tennis, and a volleyball court. Guests can also enjoy a petanque course and two shared barbecues, as well as a pizza oven. Small pets are welcome, with prior request before arrival.

The area you are staying in

Corte in Poggio is within walking distance of the small town of Stabbia, just 1 km from the country estate. After a 15-minute stroll, you’ll reach the town, where you’ll find several supermarkets, restaurants, bars, a pharmacy, a bank, and a lovely Italian gelateria (ice cream shop). There is also a pizzeria and a few take-away places, so you can easily pick up a simple dinner to enjoy back at your apartment.

The location could hardly be better if you want to visit all the well-known, classic Tuscan towns: around a 55-minute drive to Florence, Pisa, and San Gimignano, 35 minutes to Lucca, and only 20 minutes to the small village of Vinci, where the world-famous Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci was born and raised before setting off on his adventures across Italy. Besides being an exceptionally charming little town, Vinci is home to a Leonardo da Vinci museum with many of his inventions — a fun and different experience, especially for older children.

In the area around Corte in Poggio, you can also enjoy an olive oil tasting and visit an olive oil mill, sample local wines in nearby cellars, join a cooking class, relax in thermal baths, explore trekking trails, go horse riding, or rent a bike or e-bike and discover the countryside at your own pace.
