The Atmosphere of the Property

Casale Il Poggetto is part of the highly renowned Pieve de' Pitti winery, located just southeast of Pisa. The winery itself is situated a short distance from the villa, where the owners offer breakfast, wine tastings and olive oil tastings in the historic wine cellars. They are also happy to take you into the vineyards and explain their philosophy and methods of winemaking.

The owners also organise Tuscan cooking classes and can recommend unique hiking trails, scenic viewpoints, cycling routes and places worth visiting. One particularly lovely route is a circular walk of approximately 10 km through forests and vineyards to a medieval village. If you wish, the owners can also arrange dinner for you at the main house. The price for a menu is €35–45 per person. It is a memorable experience, as the owner is charismatic and both the food and wine are exquisite.

On one of the terraces there is a wood-fired stone oven where you can prepare meals and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere outdoors. All the garden furniture can be gathered on one of the terraces overlooking the swimming pool.

The villa has its own private swimming pool (10 × 5 m). Around the pool you can relax on the sun loungers while enjoying the views. The wooden deck surrounding the pool naturally becomes a gathering place throughout your holiday.

The Apartments

This is the ideal solution for a large family (perhaps several generations?) or if you wish to travel with good friends for a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature. The villa is situated in the middle of vineyards planted with Sangiovese and Malvasia grapes.

The villa is decorated in a charming country style with comfortable furniture, bright interiors and many beautiful details, including exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings.

The restoration of Il Poggetto was carried out in accordance with bio-architectural principles. This creates a particularly pleasant atmosphere throughout the villa, partly because clay from the winery's own land and natural ochre pigments were used in the construction and paintwork.

There is no air conditioning in the building, but portable air coolers are available to help reduce the indoor temperature during the hottest summer months.

On the ground floor of the villa you will find La Mangiatoria, which consists of a living room with a small kitchenette and a double sofa bed, one bedroom and one bathroom. The apartment has direct access to a terrace with garden furniture.

Also on the ground floor is La Stalla, which features a living room with a kitchenette, two double bedrooms and one bathroom. This apartment also has direct access to a terrace with garden furniture.

On the first floor is Il Poggetto, which offers four double bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, a living room with a spacious kitchen area (including a dishwasher), and a large built-in fireplace. Garden furniture is available at the bottom of the staircase.

Experiences in the Area

From Casale Il Poggetto it is approximately a one-hour drive to the beach at the beautiful medieval town of Castiglioncello and about one hour to Lucca.

The villa is also located close to Lajatico, where Bocelli holds his famous summer concert each year (7 km).

The nearest grocery shop is in La Sterza (approximately 3 km).
