The Outdoor Areas

Casa Colonica is a charming farmhouse with a welcoming rural atmosphere. The estate is located near Vernazzano, in one of the beautiful green valleys of Umbria, surrounded by forests, olive groves, vineyards, and cultivated fields.

The Mezzetti family, who own and run the property, personally take care of the estate, with each family member responsible for different areas. Since 1960, wine production and extra virgin olive oil have been their main occupation, and they continue to produce both today.

As part of your stay, you can enjoy a complimentary wine and olive oil tasting, which can be booked at reception.

The garden features two swimming pools available for guests. One pool measures 14 x 6 metres, while the other is a round children's pool suitable for children up to four years old.

In the garden, you will also find an outdoor kitchen that guests are welcome to use. A path leads directly from the garden through the beautiful green Umbrian hills, perfect for peaceful walks.

For children and active guests, the property also offers a playground, table tennis, mountain bikes, and guided tours through the vineyards and olive groves, including opportunities for tastings.

Casa Colonica also has animals on the property, and guests are welcome to visit and help feed them.

Once a week during the high season, a pizza evening is organised with antipasti, homemade pizza, and the estate’s own wine.

The Apartments and Their Charm

The property has been completely restored while carefully preserving its original architectural character.

Casa Colonica consists of five apartments with two bedrooms and two apartments with one bedroom. All apartments have air conditioning. The apartments are simply and tastefully furnished in a traditional country style, featuring terracotta tiled floors, exposed wooden beams, private entrances, central heating, a lounge area, kitchenette, and bathroom with shower.

Each holiday apartment also has its own outdoor area with garden furniture located close to the accommodation, allowing you to enjoy meals and relax outdoors surrounded by nature.

Exploring the Area

Casa Colonica is located just 2.7 km from Tuoro sul Trasimeno, where you will find shops, restaurants, and local services. Approximately 5 km away is Passignano sul Trasimeno, a charming lakeside town with a lovely promenade along Lake Trasimeno. Around the lake, you will find several small villages, and it is possible to take boat trips across the water.

You can also choose to explore the area by bicycle, as there are 36 km of excellent cycling and hiking routes around the lake.

The location is ideal: you are surrounded by beautiful nature, while Casa Colonica is also conveniently close to the motorway, making it easy to reach some of the most interesting towns in Tuscany and Umbria. Nearby destinations include Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio, Siena, Florence, and Cortona—all offering fascinating cultural experiences, historic sights, and authentic Italian atmosphere.
