Idyllic, rural agriturismo with swimming pool

Borgo Santinovo was originally a small medieval village, but the buildings have now been renovated and are ideal for vacations, making it a typical agriturismo. Where possible, the typical architectural features have been preserved, so the place exudes charm with its tiled roofs, terraces, stone walls, and tall, old trees. Borgo Santinovo is located in the heart of Chianti, in the province of Siena.

The outdoor area at Borgo Santinovo

The main activity at Borgo Santinovo is wine production, and the owners produce Chianti wine for personal use. The remaining grapes are sold to other local winemakers, so there is no longer a large wine cellar to visit. However, there are agreements with other vineyards in the area if you wish to take a tour and enjoy a wine tasting.

The main focus, however, is the large swimming pool (11 x 8 m, depth 1.40 m), surrounded by a lawn and shaded by pine trees, oaks, and cypress trees. The entire property is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.

The deer owners typically arrange a traditional Tuscan dinner for guests at Borgo Santinovo, held approximately 1-2 times a week from June to August. It is always popular, so be sure to join in 😊

At the edge of the vineyard, there is a large kitchen garden where you are welcome to pick vegetables for your dinner. Fresh tomatoes with the taste of the sun are usually a big hit.

The apartments’ interior

The 12 apartments are comfortable, varied, and authentic, decorated in the typical Tuscan style with terracotta floors and exposed beams. Each apartment has a kitchen and its own terrace with a grill outside. Around the area, there is plenty of greenery and numerous flower-filled pots. The countryside atmosphere of Tuscany doesn’t get any better than this.

Things to do in the area

From Borgo Santinovo, you can easily reach Colle Val d'Elsa (about 6 km). There, you’ll find everything you could wish for: a cozy piazza with a fountain, shops, a large Coop (supermarket), and restaurants. The nearest supermarkets are in Gracciano, 2.5 km away. San Gimignano and Siena are also popular day trips for those staying here.

The nearest restaurant is about 750 meters away – Villa Sabolini Restaurant and Tenuta Mensanello Restaurant.

If you’re in the mood for an active day, I highly recommend a trip to the Elsa hiking trail near Colle Val d'Elsa. It’s a lovely trail about 4 km long, running alongside a turquoise blue river.
