Enjoy you vacation at San Lorenzo on the top of the hill

San Lorenzo is a charming country estate located in the heart of the beautiful Crete Senesi, 28 km south of Siena. The property has been completely restored and works perfectly as a holiday destination for those who wish to enjoy stunning 360-degree views, swim in the pool and have an excellent base for excursions to the area’s small, charming towns.

A Country Estate with Heart

The country estate is beautifully situated with a truly exceptional view (probably one of Local Living’s best...) across the gentle hills where olives, vines and various crops are cultivated.

The owners, Matilde and Francesco, are the heart of the place, and they do everything they can to ensure that you have a wonderful holiday. They produce their own wine on the property, and they have several animals that children can get close to — including a dog, cats, rabbits, donkey, chickens, geese and sheep. Here, the good and slow life is at the centre of everything.

At the on-site restaurant, breakfast can be purchased. You can sit outside and enjoy the view while having breakfast prepared by the welcoming owners. Previously, it was possible to purchase dinner, but unfortunately this option is no longer available. (This is mentioned and highly praised in feedback from previous guests shown on the left side.)

The Apartments

The apartments are cosily furnished — all with TV and access to your own outdoor area with a table and chairs.

All apartments have air conditioning, which is available in the bedrooms and the living areas.

The property also has a lovely swimming pool with sun loungers. The pool measures 6 x 12 metres (depth 80–180 cm) and is open from 1 May to 29 September.

The Area Around San Lorenzo

The nearest town is Buonconvento, a charming little town with shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a large supermarket here.

You are staying right on the border of Val d’Orcia, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its beautiful and inspiring landscape. It is highly recommended to explore this area, where you will find several charming and worth-visiting medieval towns — for example San Quirico d’Orcia (25 km) and Pienza (33 km).

The wine town of Montalcino (20 km) and the thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni (30 km) should also be on your must-see list when staying here.

At San Lorenzo, arrival days are flexible outside the high season.
