Already on arrival, Poggio al Casone gives you a sense of what this place is all about. The road takes you through a long avenue of cypress trees, and little by little the landscape opens up with vineyards, gentle hills and the classic Tuscan calm that many people dream of when planning a holiday in Italy.

Poggio al Casone is located near Crespina Lorenzana in the province of Pisa and is an elegant wine estate surrounded by 30 hectares of organic vineyards. Here, a historic villa and two separate buildings have been carefully restored and converted into 10 holiday apartments. The result is a beautifully maintained holiday estate with plenty of space, a high level of comfort and a relaxed atmosphere, where you can experience life on a working wine estate and enjoy the peace that makes a holiday truly special.

This is a place for those of you who would like to stay somewhere beautiful and well-kept, without it feeling formal. The vineyards are right outside your door, there is plenty of space between the buildings, and several quiet corners where you can withdraw with a book, a glass of wine or a peaceful moment in the shade.

The facilities

The centrepiece of Poggio al Casone is the large swimming pool measuring 8 x 16 metres, with a depth of 1.20–1.40 metres, surrounded by sun loungers and parasols. The pool area is open and peaceful, with views of the green landscape, and naturally becomes a gathering point on warm days.

In addition, you can enjoy the outdoor jacuzzi, sauna and relaxation area. There is also the possibility to barbecue, borrow bicycles and explore the surrounding area if you would like to be active during your holiday. Poggio al Casone is therefore well suited both to those who want a peaceful holiday with pool time, wine and reading, and to those who would like to combine their stay with cycling trips, excursions and good food experiences.

From May to September, a weekly guided tour and wine tasting is usually arranged for guests staying at the estate. This gives you a lovely insight into the work of the winery and the opportunity to taste the wines produced on site. Reservation is required, and the activity takes place with a minimum of 4 adult participants. It is also possible to book a private tour on another day for an additional fee.

The apartments

The 10 apartments are bright, spacious and furnished in a simple, elegant style. All apartments have air conditioning, wi-fi and their own outdoor area, giving you your own private space for morning coffee, lunch in the shade or a glass of wine at the end of the day.

The apartments are ideal for those of you who appreciate the freedom of a holiday home, while also valuing the convenience of a reception, service and the possibility of adding extra services. Breakfast can be booked on request and enjoyed either on the shared terrace, in your apartment or as a special experience among the vineyards.

Poggio al Casone is well located for those who would like to explore western and central Tuscany without staying in the middle of the busiest tourist areas. Pisa Airport is approximately 25 minutes away by car, making the estate easy to reach, also if you are flying to Tuscany. Pisa and Lucca are around 30 minutes away, while the coast and Volterra are approximately 45 minutes away. Florence, San Gimignano and Siena can be reached in about 1 hour.

You can therefore use Poggio al Casone as a peaceful base for day trips to some of Tuscany’s best-known towns, as well as to smaller villages, beaches, wineries and local restaurants in the area.

Within walking distance, approximately 700 metres from the estate, you will find the village of Quattro Strade, with a restaurant, coffee bar and grocery shop. This makes everyday holiday life easy, as you do not need to take the car every time you need something simple or would like to eat out close to your holiday apartment.
