Rises above the forest lies this little paradise

Forte Sorgnano is an elevated (450 m.a.s.l.) and atmospheric, family-run country house in the heart of green and lush Umbria, between Perugia and Assisi. The country house dates from the end of the last century, and it has been lovingly restored and divided into hotel rooms and 11 apartments.

This is the place if you are looking for a peaceful holiday in the real Umbria, where you can let go of all obligations and enjoy the local Umbrian food and the local wine, which is served in the good restaurant on site. The restaurant is open both morning, noon and evening, so you can quickly adjust to the high level of service in the main building, or you might stop by for a cup of coffee or a beer in the late afternoon. At least once a week there is dinner with live music from June - September. There is only internet in the area around the restaurant and on the large common terrace.

In the garden there is a large swimming pool (7 x 14 m) with sun loungers and parasols. From here there is also a view of the countryside. You can also pass the time actively with a game of table tennis or cycling.

All apartments are spacious and nicely furnished, they have kitchens with dishwashers, and each apartment has a private terrace - most are covered.

The area around the country house consist of forest and olive groves, where the owners of Forte Sorgnano produce organic olive oil of high quality and in large quantities. You can have it sent home to Denmark after the holiday if you have become addicted ;-) It is possible to buy other local goods such as wine, grappa, vin santo, pasta and truffles. If you don't feel like going into town to shop, you can hand in the shopping list to the reception and they will take care of the rest. It's about. 3.5 km dirt road to get up to the country house so it takes a bit of time to go shopping. 

At Forte Sorgnano live some lucky farm animals: 2 goats (Miele and Bebe), 2 pigs (Ciro and Concietta), rabbits, geese, chickens and ducks. Children are very welcome to help feed the animals with the farmer (at 7am) and to help collect fresh eggs for your breakfast. In the same area as the animals (approx. 150 m from the main building) there is a small football field with associated benches for the loyal parents. 

Approx. 700 m from Forte Sorgnano is a castle that has played an important historical role as a fortress in the Byzantine corridor. Today, the beautiful setting is used for events and weddings, with space for 200 people. As a guest at Forte Sorgnano, you will be invited up to the castle for music events, cocktails, cooking school and dinners.

We can highly recommend that you take a hike or explore with a mountain bike or on horseback in the beautiful and untouched nature around Forte Sorgnano.

The owners hold cooking classes so you can gain insight into the secrets behind the local cuisine.

When you live here, you can benefit from discount agreements at Deruta ceramics (9 km), entrance to amusement parks, wineries and restaurants.

The nearest important cities are Assisi (27 km) and Perugia (25 km). Both cities are worth a visit.

This place is ideal for weddings and there is room for a total of 80 guests for dining at Forte Sorgnano – otherwise, as I said, there is the castle with room for 200 people.

A good tip for both children and adults is to visit the Nature Park "Activo Park", where you can try different activities in the open - e.g. treetop track, kayaking and rafting.
