Casa di Luca is a peaceful retreat in the Sienese part of Chianti, where you stay among rolling hills and rows of vines. The atmosphere is relaxed and rural, with room for long meals on the terrace and quiet hours by the pool. The villa is ideal for three generations or two families who want privacy, views and short drives to Siena and the classic Chianti villages.

Location and atmosphere

You stay in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where cypress-lined lanes, gravel roads and small villages slow the pace. Everyday shopping and small, low-effort outings are within easy reach. For cyclists the area is ideal: you roll straight out onto quiet roads and well-known gravel sections linked to L’Eroica.

The villa

The layout makes it easy to be together. On the ground floor there is a living room with fireplace and access to the garden, a well-equipped kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the first floor you will find a larger bedroom with a sofabed for children and with its own en-suite bathroom. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms and living area, and the approximately 160 m² provide plenty of space for up to ten guests including children. On the lower ground floor there is a games room with billiards and table tennis, plus a separate laundry room that keeps weekly logistics simple.

Outdoor living

The pool (4 x 10 m - 130 cm deep) with comfortable sun loungers sits peacefully behind the house with open views of the hills. The grounds are fenced, and the front garden works as a safe area for children. The terrace is large and naturally divided into zones for shady morning coffee, shared lunches and dinners under the sky. There is a barbecue by the house and sheltered nooks, so grandparents can find a quiet spot while the children play.

Practicalities

Casa di Luca offers activities that make a home day cosy: table tennis, billiards, a basketball hoop and a badminton net. The owner is happy to arrange bike rental prior to arrival, and there is private parking at the house. Wi-Fi is stable for practical needs and light streaming.

Experiences in the area

I recommend combining lazy mornings by the pool with short late-day outings. Siena is perfect for the cathedral and a gentle evening stroll on Il Campo, while Radda, Gaiole and Castellina offer the classic Chianti feeling with small piazzas and simple trattorias. San Gimignano and Monteriggioni work well as half-day trips, and on hot afternoons a wine tasting at a small family producer is a pleasant alternative to a city visit.

There is a small supermarket and an eatery in Pievasciata, about 3 km from the villa. For a bigger shop, it is better to drive to the Coop in Siena (about 12 km).

For those travelling across generations, the area works particularly well because experiences can be scaled: a couple of hours out, back for a swim, then an easy dinner.
